Jelutong upon Mahagony |
Names and distribution: Jelutong, botanisch Dyera costulata, ist in Malaysia, und dort insbesondere auf Borneo verbreitet. Die Art wird überregional auch als Malaysian Pencil Cedar benannt.
Appearance: Weißlich-gelbliches Holz ohne sichtbaren Übergang von Splint zu Kern, zerstreutporig, homogen, schlicht.
Properties: Geringe Rohdichte, etwa 0,35 - 0,40 tons/m3, unproblematisch in der Trocknung, jedoch bläuegefährdet, formbeständig, nicht dauerhaft.
Use: Leisten, Bleistifte, leichtes Konstruktionsholz - jedoch schwerer als Balsa.
