Kingwood – Violetta – Kingwood – Dalbergia cearensis

Names and distribution: Under the term “rosewood” or “palisander”. “Rosewood” is offered in a variety of wood species. Strictly speaking, only woods of the Dalbergia genus deserve this designation. The best-known examples of “real” rosewood species are: East Indian rosewood(Dalbergia latifolia) and Honduras rosewood(Dalbergia stevensonii). Other rosewood species have their own names without the suffix “rosewood”. Examples of this are cocobolo(Dalbergia retusa), grenadilla(Dalbergia melanoxylon) or kingwood(Dalbergia cearensis), also known as violet wood or violetta.
