Names and distribution:

Palo Blanco(Calycophyllum multiflorum) is also known as Verdolago or Castello Buxbaum. The wood species belongs to the Rutaceae family, which is naturally widespread in South America. Palo Blanco is a tree species of the alternating green dry forests of Bolivia and is found there at altitudes of 500 -1000 m.

Wooden picture:

The hardwood is inconspicuous whitish gray-yellow. Slight demarcation to the whitish sapwood. Under the influence of light, the heartwood may darken slightly, then a clear color difference to the sapwood is visible. Fine and scattered pores, mostly straight grain, medium gloss level, homogeneous, occasionally discreetly striped, plain, moderately decorative.

Properties:

The bulk density at 12% wood moisture is 0.75 – 0.90 t/m³. No reliable information is available on swelling and shrinkage behavior. The values are approx. 4.1% radial and 7.8% tangential. Gentle drying required to avoid cracks. Color sensitive. Improper storage can lead to discoloration in the form of grey shadows in the wood. Easy to machine, good for turning, planing and polishing.
